Vancouver offers slow streets where pedestrians and cyclists have priority, and where speed limits are reduced, to add to its extensive and highly developed network of bicycle paths and trails.

A narrow road flanked by enormous mature chestnut trees on both sides, with cars also parked on both sides, and a cyclist in the middle of the road, which is marked with a white painted bicycle symbol. A sign in the foreground identifies this as a "slow street" for pedestrians and cyclists, with a maximum speed of 30 km/h.
